Emerging Time Period: The first horror movies were silent films a lot like what every film started out like. But instead of people laughing or smiling to the film, this type of silent film exposed pioneers to examine terror for the first time ever. The early films are surreal, dark, pieces owing their visual outburst to painters. Horror movies were reborn in the 1930’s; the beginning of sound as well as changing the whole nature of cinema and had a huge impact on the horror genre. The 1940’s reflected the internalisation of the horror market. The horror films in the 1950’s were about science and technology run riot. Also the era horror films get relegated well and truly to the B-movie category. By the end of the 1980’s horror only became about blood, guts, and gore. It seemed to have lost it’s power to do anything more than shock and then amuse.
